Lai Mohammed denies threatening Israel

Lai Mohammed denies threatening Israel

ABUJA – MINISTER of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Thursday denied the report on social media that he threatened that Nigeria would send missile to Israel if the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu was not released to Nigeria for the continuation of his prosecution.

Lai Mohammed

The Minister also said that the resurfacing of the IPOB leader in Israel has justified the claims of the federal government that it was not aware of his whereabouts.

Briefing State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja, Alhaji Mohammed described the allegation against him as fake news.

Trade War: CBN calls for policies to protect Nigeria’s economy

According to him, “I was in London when I heard the story about Nnamdi Kanu surfacing in Israel. I was not in a position to make any statement. But before I knew it, within a few hours, I saw my picture with a story saying that I had actually given Israel ultimatum to return Nnamdi Kanu otherwise, we will send them missiles.

“I just laughed. It speaks to what we are talking about fake news because it is probably the biggest threat in the run-up to the elections. Having said that, I have nothing more to add to the issue of Nnamdi Kanu. At the appropriate time, the various authorities will make a statement about the issue of Kanu.

“But this has proven that all along when Kanu disappeared and the mob was asking the Nigerian army to account for the whereabouts of Kanu; I kept saying that Kanu knows where he is. He was not in the custody of the Federal Government. We have been vindicated today. Any other statement will be made in due course

(1) The Rat:
Native Son opens with an important
scene that gives us one of Book One's
most significant symbols: the rat. Bigger
and his family are waking up together,
and they suddenly spot a rat. After a few
chaotic moments of chasing the rat - and
the rat attempting to fight back and
defend its life - Bigger ultimately kills the
rat with a frying pan. We can read the rat
as Bigger himself, as he is clearly trying
to survive, but is seen as a nuisance.
This is how Bigger perceives that white
people see him and other black people:
as nuisances that are best kept out of the
way and might face danger if they enter
the world of white people.
(2) The Plane:
Not long after Bigger ventures outside his
house that morning, he and his friend
Gus spot an airplane that is engaged in
sky-writing. They comment on how hard
it is to see the plane and how far away it
must be. The two then go on to talk
about the unlikelihood of black people
getting to fly airplanes, a job that is
reserved for white people:
'' 'I could fly a plane if I had a chance,'
Bigger said. 'If you wasn't black and if
you had some money and if they'd let
you go to that aviation school, you could
fly a plane,' Gus said.'' The combination
of the description of the airplane and the
following conversation indicates that the
plane is a symbol for far-off, unreachable
goals.
(3)The Pigeon:
After the airplane scene, we move quickly
to the next important symbol in Book 1:
the pigeon, which Bigger and Gus see as
they continue to walk down the street
together. We read: ''a slate-colored
pigeon swooped down to the middle of
the steel car tracks and began strutting to
and fro with ruffled feathers, its fat neck
bobbing with regal pride. A street car
rumbled forward and the pigeon rose
swiftly through the air on wings stretched
so taut and sheer that Bigger could see
the gold of the sun through their
translucent tips.'' the ability to fly away
from the forces in his own life that he
feels are trying to crush him, just as the
pigeon escaped the street car.
(4)
Loneliness is a major theme in the novel.
It is the outcome of a tradition of kufi
which isolates widows for a period. Three
widows; Dedewe, Radeke and Fayoyin
suffer this fate, but only as for as long as
they end their widowhood by the cap-
picking ceremony.
However, one character who is most
affected by loneliness is Yaremi, whose
marriage to her husband, Ajumobie
comes to an abrupt end through his
untimely death. Therefore, she is
connected to a life of loneliness.
As a motif, "loneliness and its
associations such as "left her alone",
"lonely" and "solitude" permeate the
novel. Yaremi is rendered lonely after the
death of her husband Ajumobi. Her two
daughters segi and Wars, after being
given away into marriage, no longer
keeps her company. Her only son Alani,
now lives in Ibadan and it him Kufi has
become a lonely settlement at the very
end of the earth.
Yaremi's only companion is Woye, her
little grandchild. On very cold nights,
when other lucky women of kufi enjoy the
company and warmth of their husbands,
Yaremi sprawls dejectedly on her
bamboo bed, missing Ajumobi and can
only launch into a state of rapturous
reminiscences. It becomes her habit to
visit her husband's grave at least two
times a day. There she sits alone and
monologues her earthly problems, hoping
for Ajumobi's response.
For fear of losing her Only companion
Waye, she does everything she Knows of
- medication, cajoling, coaxing, prayer -
to get him healed of his high fever. No
wonder, at the boy's sudden decision to
leave with bus mother for Olode to enroll
in school, Yaremi perceives "a steadying
positive factor in her loneliness going
away".
In the end, Alani's strange
pronouncement that he is going back to
Ibadan after his short visit to kufi throws
her into a swoon. Later when the village
elders announced the punitive measure
of sending her into exile for referring all
the caps, she is galvanised into resolving
that it is her dead body that they will
carry out of kufi. She draws her strength
and will-power from Almighty God and
Ajumobi's spirit and braces herself for
the painful continuation of her lonely
days.

===================
(4)
the brother who has squandered his
inheritance was being given red-carpet
treatment upon his return, while he, who had
toiled faithfully for his father had nothing to
show for it.
The world needs more leaders with the
mentality of the boy’s father. He knew that his
son had done wrong but hoped that the boy
would return one day.
He prepared for his return. There was a
fattened calf and a robe waiting. The boy must
have been stinking like a pig from his close
association with the animals; that did not
matter to his father.
Instead of asking him to account for the
wealth he had entrusted, the father welcomed
him home.
On his part, the boy knew that he had done
wrong. Long before he started the journey
home, he thought of the apology he would
give to his father for all the things he had
done wrongly. He was also prepared to make
amends.
The boy also expected to be placed in a lower
position than he had been in. One of the
lessons here is that of taking personal
responsibility for our actions. Most people will
look for excuses for their mistakes. It is crucial
to carry out an honest self-evaluation and
decide what went wrong and how you will
make amends for it.
Then there is the other brother who had
worked for his father without having been
given anything for his work. Don’t we have
such people in organisations? They are people
who wonder when they will be recognised for
their work.
The father said wisely that everything that
was in the farm belonged to the boy. All of us
should work with the mentality of an owner,
and not of a worker.
Organisations are about people, and people are
known to make mistakes. Some people are
entrusted with huge responsibilities, and when
they make a mistake, there are several people
waiting to bring them down. I challenge you to
look for the best in others, to anticipate that
they will turn out alright and to rejoice when
people try to make amends for the wrongs
they have done.
After all, to err is human: to forgive is divine

lasting beliefs or ideals shared by the
members of a culture about what is good or
bad and desirable or undesirable.
(2b)
(i) Positive values: positive values applies to
things or qualities which are good, desirable
or worthwhile. For example include truth
telling, hard work, obedience etc.
(ii) Negative values: This is a bad value,
unacceptable or worthless value that the
society frown at. Examples includes late
coming to school, truancy, lying, armed
robbery, indecent dressing , fraudulent acts,
etc.
(iii) Intrinsic values: Something has intrinsic
value when it is good or desirable for its own
sake and in itself. For example, good music,
beautiful flowers, particular dress, type of
handset, type of house and other value giving
satisfaction to the beholder.
(iv) Instrumental values: This is value that

duty to vote. If it were up to me, voting
would be a requirement. What is wonderful
about a democracy is that we choose who
will represent us. There is no point to a
democracy in which we do not participate.
(ii) A citizen in a democracy should have an
obligation to understand the powers and
duties of the government, generally set forth
in a constitution. If we do not know this, the
government that does not act properly has no
checks upon it and can avoid carrying out its
duties.

responsibility of knowing his or her rights,
which are also generally set forth in a
constitution. If we do not know what our
rights are, they are meaningless.
(iv) A citizen in a democracy should always
know who his or her representatives are. If
we do not know who is representing us, we
do not know whether or not that person is
representing us properly, to whom we should
complain if that is the case, or to whom we
should state our own opinions and
preferences.

Google's result for
Republican senator
shows image with 'bigot'
written across it
The image was pulled from a 2012 blog
post.

Next to that description you may also have
seen, on Friday, an image of Wade with the
word "BIGOT" written across it.
It was the latest incident in which Google
displayed erroneous and biased information
in its search results. On Thursday, the
company listed Nazism as the ideology of the
California Republican Party , in effect
highlighting some of automation's
shortcomings. Google algorithmically pulls
from high-profile sources such as
Wikipedia for general explanations and
backgrounds. But Wikipedia sometimes has
its pages " vandalized ," or edited to deliver a
certain message or opinion. That led to
incorrect information showing up in a search
on the CAGOP on Google.
In response to that previous incident, Google
said: "We don't bias our search results
toward any political party. Sometimes people
vandalize public information sources, like
Wikipedia, which can impact the information
that appears in search. We have systems in
place that catch vandalism before it impacts
search results, but occasionally errors get
through, and that's what happened here."
The image of Wade is from a Feb. 2012 post
by a blogger named Matt Comer. He wasn't
happy that Wade, who was on the
Greensboro City Council at the time,
supported a state constitutional amendment
that banned same-sex marriages and civil
unions. Comer wrote, "Let me put this as
plainly as I can: Mrs. Wade, you are a bigot."
Comer didn't immediately respond to a
request for comment.
A Google representative said information and
images from its knowledge panels, which are
intended to provide quick search results
without making users click on links, are
"automatically sourced from around the
web."
Google removed the "BIGOT" image Friday
afternoon. The representative added that
individuals can also "suggest edits and
request to change their primary photos on
Knowledge Panels" by getting verified.
Anyone with a knowledge panel can click on
the link underneath the panel to be verified.
Wade is currently running for re-election
against Democrat Michael Garrett. She didn't
immediately respond to a request for
comment.

investors and media an overview of the
business plans for each of FCA's brands,
outlining what's coming, what's going and
when.
Here's our detailed recap of how Fiat
Chrysler Automobiles will change between
now and 2022.

Jeep's new Deserthawk models will command
$5,000 to $10,000 more than the vehicles on
which they're based.
Jeep
Jeep
The last time FCA laid out its five-year plan,
CEO Sergio Marchionne said that of all the
brands in the portfolio, Jeep is the most
crucial to long-term global success. That
won't change moving forward, as FCA has
big plans for Jeep between now and 2022.
Ram's Rebel TRX gets the go-ahead for
production and has Ford's F-150 Raptor in its
sights.
Ram
Ram
Despite its relatively small lineup, Ram plays
a huge role for FCA on a global scale. We
won't see much in the way of overall lineup
expansion, but instead a focus on the brand's
core products.
Alfa Romeo will relaunch the GTV nameplate
on a high-performance hybrid sports car.
Alfa Romeo
Alfa Romeo
The rebirth of the Alfa Romeo brand is still
underway, with the Giulia and Stelvio still
gaining traction in the US. Those core models
will be crucial to Alfa's success moving
forward, but it doesn't mean FCA won't have
some fun with the Alfa brand along the way .
Maserati will offer the new Alfieri in coupe
and convertible variants.
Maserati
Maserati
Maserati's rejuvenation hasn't been as
immediate as Alfa Romeo's, and indeed, the
brand's turnaround has taken a lot longer to
execute. Maserati will undergo a number of
changes by 2022 , though its plans are far
less ambitious than FCA's other brands.
A new version of the electric Fiat 500e will
arrive by 2020.
Fiat
Fiat
Though it's a relatively low-volume player,
Fiat is still the "F" in "FCA." Though no large
product roadmap was disclosed during the
company's Capital Markets Day, we're told a
brand-new Fiat 500 lineup will launch
between now and 2022.
Chrysler just extended its partnership with
Waymo for autonomous vehicle development.
Waymo
Chrysler and Dodge
These once-massive nameplates are now
some of FCA's least-important brands. Like
Fiat, no formal Chrysler or Dodge business
plans were laid out this week, though we do
know a few updates.
For starters, FCA is incredibly proud of the
Pacifica and its plug-in hybrid counterpart
and is excited about the recently extended
Waymo partnership .
The current LX-platform cars -- the Chrysler
300, Dodge Charger and Challenger -- will
carry on for the foreseeable future. These
products were originally scheduled to shift to
an Alfa Romeo platform, but those plans
have stalled given FCA's larger focus on
crossovers and SUVs moving forward.
Other news
In addition to these product announcements,
Fiat Chrysler executives discussed a few
other big items. For starters, FCA will
discontinue the sale of diesel engines in all
passenger cars by 2021. Additionally, Ferrari
will supply Maserati with all its future power
trains, including those that use electrification.
And remember, all of this is subject to
change. Looking back at the last FCA five-
year plan , only about half of the new or
updated products came to market on time, if
ever.

*4i)The Role of Equity Legislation*
Sometimes, the law do seems to be
inconsistent with some of the laws. In other
words, laws could be ambitious, that is to say
that the laws are silent, and in such cases, it
is incumbent on the Judge to bring in his
wisdom.
This is where the Judge’s sense of honesty,
fairness, justice and impartially is necessary to
decides on the case. Sometimes, in the cause
of deciding on such cases, the Judge will
indirectly involved himself in the process of
law making. That is why it is called equity
legislation.
*ii)Judiciary Protects People’s Rights*
The judiciary is vested with the power of
safeguarding the rights of the Nigerian
citizenry. That is its supreme responsibility as
the third organ of government. In the case,
where the citizen’s rights is threatened, or
maybe, violated by whoever, the individual has
the constitution right as a Nigerian citizen to
seek his protection from the Nigerian judiciary,
because one major function of the judiciary is
the protection of the rights of the Nigerian
citizens, even foreigners, since it has to do
with human rights.
*iii)Juduciary Conducts Judicial Inquiries*
More often, issues of state important do come
up that normally begs for inquiries. In such a
situation, court Judges are normally called
upon to serve such purposes. Once Enquiry
Commissions are constituted, Judges are
always the people to head such commissions.
Some of the issues that warrant such inquiries
could be those issues that have to do with
alleged errors or sometimes, omissions on the
part of government, sometimes too, on the
part of some public servants. The role of
Judges who head such Commissions of
enquiry is to investigate on some important

*iv)Judiciary Special Role in a Federation*
The judiciary has more vital role to play, where
a federal system of government is practice,
such as the Nigerian situation. This role
include, guarding the constitution and as well
as arbitering disputes involving say, the
federal and the state governments.
*V)Judiciary Interprets and Applies Laws*
Another functions of the judiciary is the
interpretation and the application of laws to all
cases. We are in the know that, judiciary
disputes and as well, decides on cases brought
before it. In the course of doing this, the
judges can be said to have interpret and apply
laws.

ETHNIC CONFLICT IN NIGERIA: CAUSES
AND SOLUTION
Nigerians are very sensitive when it comes to
their ethnic
groups. An average Nigerian often sees his
own tribe as
being superior to others. Ethnic conflicts are
very
common and they bring about damage to lives
and
properties. The key causes and solution to
ethnic conflict
in Nigeria are discussed here.
Ethnic Conflict
CAUSES OF ETHNIC CONFLICT IN NIGERIA
TRIBALISM
Tribalism: Nigerians tend to segregate and
discriminate
against people that are not from the same
tribe. This
causes jealousy, hatred and can further cause
conflict
between two or more ethnic groups.
INEQUALITY
Inequity: If it seems the government favours
one ethnic
group over the other in the allocation of
resources, e.g
budget allocation. The concerned tribe would
feel slighted
and show their protests by acts of violence,
which may
result in ethnic conflict in Nigeria.
LAND DISPUTES
Land disputes: if it happens that two states
have a
dispute over the ownership of a piece of land
that serves
as a boundary, there is bound to be
disagreement
between the two ethnic groups.
HISTORY
History: if two ethnic groups have had a long-
standing
history of conflict between each other, such is
bound to
continue even in the present.
IGNORANCE
Ignorance: Many individuals live in total
ignorance about
other ethnic groups. They instead dwell on
rumors of the
negative things about other tribal groups apart
from theirs.
This would make them develop a hatred for
other tribal
groups.
SOLUTIONS TO ETHNIC CONFLICT IN
NIGERIA
SENSITISATION
Sensitization: There should be workshops to
sensitize
and create awareness to the general public on
the need
for national unity and patriotism.
EQUITY
Equity: the government should be careful
enough to share
financial resources and otherwise, equally.
DIALOGUE
Dialogue: the two ethnic parties should employ
the use of
dialogue to settle disputes.
Creation of Job opportunities
Creation of Job opportunities: there should be
the
presence of an enabling environment to engage
the
youths to avoid idleness. They should be
adequately
trained on how to establish small and medium
scale
enterprises.
INTEGRATION
Integration: platforms, where Nigerians get to
learn more
about other ethnic groups, should be
encouraged. This
would inculcate the spirit of unity and
togetherness
among citizens.
